I’ve been at my new job for a month. I’m the new guy. I’m only just getting to grips with all of the things I need to do around this place. I’m a proper manager now – I’ve got someone that asks me questions constantly because they look up to me. This is so strange.
Well I’ve just complicated things even more, because I’m really about to have someone looking up to me. I came home to the craziest news.
After a long day at work, I got off the train, walked to Sainsburys, then slowly walked back to our flat. When I walked in, I was greeted by a wrapped gift from my girlfriend.
Inside was a positive pregnancy test.
My girlfriend is pregnant.
Oh my god.
In May we decided that she was going to come off her pill and that we would try for a baby. We did this in spite of the fact that I hadn’t got a job yet, but after my amazing job interview on 1st April – where they basically told me that I had it in the bag – we celebrated. And didn’t stop celebrating since.
It turns out that those were the perfect conditions to crate life, as we had no idea that it could work as quickly as it did.
We have so much learning to do. Absolutely loads. But we are both so excited about what is going to come of this. We’re having a baby and it’s going to change absolutely everything for us.
There’s never a perfect time for something as major as this to happen, but I feel like with so much change happening right now, why not just throw that in there too?
I really don’t care whether it’s a boy or a girl. All I care about is me and my girlfriend taking our relationship to the next level. We’ve ben together for years and we’ve spoken about it for so long, so it feels like this is final – we are together forever now.
