Goodwin crater on Northumberland Road

A big hole

I walked past this big man-made crater yesterday. It is next to the university’s Goodwin sports centre:

Anyone know what they are building?

It’s a modern-day vomitorium provided for students returning to their lodgings
after a non-academic night in town.

If I’ve got the right site it’s got for 76 apartments with basement car parking accommodation.

I think Prince Naseem bought it when they closed the glass factory there – he was going to build student flats, but was refused planning permission because of the local parking problems. Then it was empty for about 3 years. Presumably he, or somebody else, is now building the flats complete with car park.
